LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
Adam Levi (Princeton Junction, NJ/Pennington School) and
Jeremy Van Herwarde (Sussex, NJ/Pope John XXIII) won at No. 3 doubles, but the Rider University men's tennis team fell to Delaware, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-12, while the Blue Hens are now 7-13.
“I'm disappointed in the 7-0 loss,” said Rider Head Coach Doug Potkay. “I thought we had some good match-ups to take some matches. But we didn't press them enough.”
Levi and Van Herwarde defeated Sam Oberholtzer and Scott Cameron, 6-3. But the Blue Hens took the top two doubles flights to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Van Herwarde pushed Cameron at No. 6 singles, but fell 7-6, 6-2. Delaware took all six singles flights by straight sets.
The Broncs return to action tomorrow, when they play host to La Salle. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
