POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Marist won all three doubles flights by 6-1 scores and dropped no more than three games in any singles match to take a 7-0 victory over the Rider University women's tennis team Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 2-10 (0-4 MAAC), while the Red Foxes are now 8-2 (1-0 MAAC). 

“We played a very strong team today,” said Rider Head Coach Doug Potkay. “They didn't make many mistakes and dictated play. Both teams battled and put up a good fight. But we didn't have the consistency to close out the critical points.”

The Broncs' closest singles match came at No. 5, where Brandon Gildea (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) took three games from Jan Dernic. Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) took a pair of games from Max Darrington at No. 6 and Matthew Begley (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) took a single game from Christopher Gladden at No. 4. The Red Foxes won No. 1, 2 and 3 singles by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

The Broncs return to action Saturday, when they play host to Saint Peter's. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
