DEERFIELD BEACH, FL - The Rider University wrestling team won two dual meets to finish day one of the South Beach Duals undefeated. The Rider Wrestlers collected victories over Columbia University and North Dakota State University.
The first match pitted the Broncs against the Columbia Lions, and the Broncs started strong winning their first four matches by pin or technical fall to jump out to a 22-0 lead. They would never look back, winning four of the final six matches to leave the final score at 37-7.
The Broncs next took on the Bison of North Dakota State University, with the final score ending up at 22-18. The match came down to a winner take all bout at heavyweight, where
Mauro Correnti (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross) won, 5-3, in the sudden death to give the Broncs their second victory.
The Broncs will continue competition tomorrow at 11 a.m. with a matchup against nationally ranked No. 7 Missouri.
