Women's Basketball Battles Vermont on Friday

What You Need to Know
- Rider returns to action on Friday, December 1, with a home non-conference clash versus Vermont. The meeting between the Broncs and Catamounts in the third in the series history and the first since the 2004-05 season.

- Rider enters the game in search of their first win of the season, while Vermont is looking to an end a three-game skid. On the road, Vermont is 0-2 so far this year.

- On Monday, Rider freshman Jaiden Morris was tabbed as the MAAC Rookie of the Week. She is the first Bronc to earn weekly honors this season and the first to be named the league's top rookie since Stella Johnson earned the distinction twice in 2016-17.

- Last week, both Stella Johnson and Kamila Hoskova recorded double-doubles for the Broncs. Johnson's, the first of her career, came against Lafayette, while Hoskova scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds last time out versus East Carolina.

- Vermont comes to Alumni Gymnasium with a 2-5 record and in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Outside of Burlington this season, the Catamounts are 0-2. UVM enters Friday's tilt in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Vermont is 1-5 against Division I foes this season. Sophomore forward Hannah Crymble leads the UVM offensive attack with over 17 points per game thanks to shooting better than 57 percent (43-of-75) from the field. Junior forward Cassidy Derda is pouring in over nine points per game and is the team's top three-point shooter. Derda is knocking down 36 percent (18-of-50) from three-point range. As a team, the Catamounts are averaging nearly 13 assists per game and they boast a +7.8 rebounding margin. Vermont is committing nearly 22 turnovers per contest and has a negative 3.7 turnover margin. Last week, Vermont lost to both American and James Madison at the TD Bank Classic.

- Last weekend, Rider took part in the 2017 Seton Hall Thanksgiving Classic returns to Walsh Gym on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26, with East Carolina and Jacksonville State participating in the four-team tournament as well as host Seton Hall. Rider and Seton Hall kicked things off with the host Pirates scoring the win. In the finale, Rider fell to East Carolina in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

- Senior Kamila Hoskova was named to the SHU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 12 points and eight rebounds per game at the two-day event.

- The Broncs have taken 22 or more free throws in each of their last four  contests. Rider took a season-high 35 free-throw attempts versus East Carolina on Saturday. The Broncs hit 27-of-35 (77.1 %) from the charity stripe. Stella Johnson went 8-of-10 at the line vs. ECU (both of which were new career-highs), while Kamila Hoskova knocked down 10-of-13 attempts from the foul line against the Pirates. This season, Rider is shooting 69 percent (95-of-136) from the foul line as a team led by Johnson hitting 79 percent of her attempts.

- Jaiden Morris scored a career-high 17 points versus Seton Hall last Saturday before pouring in 14 points versus East Carolina. Morris hit a career-best seven shots against SHU. She has scored in double figures three times this season. Sophomore Lea Favre also set new career-highs on Sunday as she made four shots from the field and scored 10 points. 

- Over the last two games, all of Stella Johnson's points came in the second half. Against Seton Hall, she scored seven points over the final 10 minutes of play. Versus East Carolina, Johnson poured in 16 points in the second half to help the Broncs erase an eight-point deficit.
