Women Divers Perform Well at La Salle

The Broncs fell to the Explorers and Delaware on Saturday

Philadelphia, PA – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team competed against La Salle and Delaware on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool. The Broncs fell to the host Explorers, 195-104, and the Blue Hens topped Rider, 217-80.

Rider (1-5) got strong showings once again from their divers.

In the diving events, Rider got solid performances from the trio of junior Breanne Hatter (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown HS South), sophomore Meg Tomayko (Murfreesboro, TN/Siegel) and freshman Meagan Fornero (Conroe, TX/Legacy Prepatory Christian Academy). Tomayko won the 3M with a score of 232.25 and finished second in the 1M with mark of 228.30. Fornero posted a third-place finish in the 1M (222.20) and she came in fourth in the 3M (207.30), while Hatter landed in fourth in the 1M (199.50) and third in the 3M (228.35).     

The Bronc 400 free relay quartet of sophomore Casey Wrabley (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest), freshman Brianna Hatzold (Delran, NJ/Delran High School), junior Taylor Stalnaker (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and sophomore Olivia Iswalt (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) closed out the meet with a second-place finish thanks to posting a time of 3:45.19.

Iswalt also posted a fourth-place finish in the 100 free (55.99).

Senior Hannah Bayer (Forest Hill, MD/ Bel Air) had the best individual finish for the Broncs, courtesy of coming in third in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:11.00.

Junior Olivia Cann (Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) finished in fourth-place to earn pivotal points for Rider in the 200 back. Cann finished with a time of 2:13.35.

Notes
- For the third straight meet, a Bronc diver won at least one event.
- Rider saw four individual swimmers earn top-five finishes in events.
- Tomayko's win in the 1M was her first of the season. All three Bronc divers have now won at least one event this year.
- Wrabley came in sixth in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.23.
- Freshman Maeve Lersch finished fifth in the 100 back (1:01.56).
- Iswalt and Lersch finished sixth and seventh in the 50 free with times of 25.73 and 25.84, respectively.   

Up Next
Rider has a little layoff as the team returns to action on Friday, December 1, traveling to nearby Princeton to compete in the three-day Big Al Invitational.
