LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's tennis team fell to four-time defending MAAC Champion Quinnipiac, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs drop to 1-4 (0-3 MAAC), while the Bobcats are now 1-1 (1-0 MAAC).
 
The Broncs came closest to a doubles victory at No. 2, with Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro North) and Sydney Jeffrey (Port St. Lucie, FL/Lincoln Park Academy) pushing Jennifer Lu and Stephanie Yanosov to a 6-3 decision.
 
Rider showed well at the top of the singles line-up, with Vanessa Canda (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academy) taking four games in the second set at No. 1 against Payton Bradley. Cyd Melendez (Cayey, PR/Colegio La Merced) also took five games in her 6-2, 6-3, loss to Jennifer Lu at No. 2. But the Bobcats won all six flights in straight sets.  
 
The Broncs return to action Tuesday, when they travel to Wagner. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
