FAIRFIELD, CT – Fairfield won all three doubles matches and took all six singles flights in straight sets to defeat the Rider University women's tennis team, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 1-3 (0-2 MAAC), while the Stags are now 2-0 (1-0 MAAC).
 
Vanessa Canda (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academic) and Cyd Melendez (Cayey, PR/Colegio La Merced) came closest to a doubles victory at No. 1, but fell to Anna Komer and Sarah Stuhlmann, 6-3. Canda also put up a solid fight against Stuhlmann at No. 1 singles, but fell, 6-3, 6-3. The Stags cruised to straight-sets victories in the remaining five flights, dropping no more than two games in any given set.

The Broncs return to action Sunday, when they play host to Quinnipiac. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
