Hall of Famer Neil Boyle Dies

The Rider University department of athletics, as well as the entire Rider community, is saddened to hear of the passing of Athletics Hall of Famer Neil Boyle '65.

Neil, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015, died June 20 at the age of 72.

Neil was born and raised in Allentown, PA and was residing in Northfield, Michigan with his wife Denise.

While at Rider Neil pitched a no-hitter and compiled a 13-3 record with an earned run average of 1.47. He pitched Rider's first-ever NCAA Division I postseason game and earned All-East honors.

After Rider Neil was drafted by the Chicago Cubs and pitched in the Cubs and New York Yankees organizations, reaching the AAA level, the highest level before the Major Leagues.

Visitation for Neil will be Thursday, June 23, from 2-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Michigan 48170. His Funeral Service will be Friday, June 24, at 11am. Family and friends may begin visiting the funeral home at 10am. There will be a procession to Riverside Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
