Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Monmouth University on Saturday afternoon.
“Monmouth was a hard hitting team,” said head coach Doug Potkay. “They kept us on the defensive. This was a learning experience for our squad.”
For Rider, Chris Popso (Florence) won seven games at number two singles before losing 6-3, 6-4.
“Chris came close to taking the second set,” Potkay said. “He kept his opponent off balance with top spin shots and off pace plays to his backhand.”
The Rider women play at Wagner College on Sunday. The Bronc men are back in action on April 6 against Fordham University.
