Men's College Tennis
Fordham University 6, Rider University 1
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University Men's Tennis team lost a nonconference match to Fordham University on a pristine Wednesday afternoon.
“The players are competing and giving their all against more experienced players,” said head coach Doug Potkay.
Sophomore Ryan Ciaccio (Mercerville/Hamilton North (Nottingham)) won his match at sixth singles 6-2, 6-2 against Cameron Posillico of the Rams. “Ryan frustrated his opponent in his usual style by keeping him off balance with his array of shot selections,” Potkay added.
Freshman Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) lost a tough two-set match to Steven Duka of Fordham 6-7 (6), 6-7 (6). “Griffin played a hard-fought 2-set tiebreaker,” Potkay commented.
Junior Chris Popso (Florence/Florence) and senior Adam Levi (Princeton Junction/Pennington School) won their match at first doubles 6-3, by, according to Potkay, “taking an early lead and finishing off their opponents.”
The men and women travel to Sparkill, NY on Saturday morning to take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 10am.
