St. John's is among the national leaders in field percentage (.983).
Rider (4-12) has its bye week from Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play this weekend. The first MAAC weekend, at Siena March 21-22, was rained out.
Rider and St. John's have met 35 times since the series began in 1929, but have not met since the 1999 season.
“St. John's will be as good as anybody we've played this season,” said Rider head coach Barry Davis, who has already faced Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Kent State, Campbell, Delaware and Duke this spring. “You play good teams to make your team better.”
Following the St. John's series Rider will travel to Seton Hall March 31. The Rider home opener will be Wednesday, April 1.
