Four Broncs All-Region
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Four members of the Rider University men's soccer team were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as All-Region players.
Senor Sonimi Halliday, senior Florian Valot and sophomore Jose Aguinaga were named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team.
Junior Christian Flath was named to the All-Northeast Region Third Team.
Halliday (Sicklerville, NJ) was a First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference defender this year for the second year in a row. The team captain was also a member of the MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team this year.
Valot (Monaco, France) was also named First Team All-MAAC for the second straight year. Valot, who played in the Premier Development League with the Seattle Sounders last summer, had 14 points in 16 games this season, scoring six goals.
Aguinaga (Madrid, Spain) led Rider with 23 points and a team-high nine assists, 16th most in the nation. Aguinaga was also a First Team All-MAAC selection this year.
Flath (Rostock, Germany) scored a team-high eight goals and compiled 20 points in just 15 games. A three-time First Team All-MAAC selection, Flath has 62 career points in just 51 games.
Rider was the second seed in the conference tournament and defeated the top seed, 22nd ranked Monmouth, 3-2 in the MAAC Title Game.
Rider advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998 and lost 2-0 to the defending national champions, Virginia.
