Central Michigan 18, Rider 15

Rider 18, Kent State 14
YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN—The Rider Broncs won two of three matches at the Eastern Michigan Duals Saturday. “I think we had one of the hardest draws in the tournament,” said Rider head coach Gary Taylor, “but today helped us find out where we are at. All three teams we faced are very tough. It was good to beat Kent State and Utah Valley and we came very close to beating Central. We had a chance, we just fell a little short.”
For the Broncs (2-1) senior 165 Conor Brennan (Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) won three times. “Conor was very consistent today,” Taylor said, “and did a nice job.”
Sophomore 184 Michale Fagg-Daves (Somerset, NJ/Franklin), junior 174 Wayne Stinson (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) and sophomore heavyweight Mauro Correnti (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross) all won twice. “Fagg-Daves looked good,” Taylor said.
“Stinson had a very good day,” Taylor said. 'He competed hard the entire day. His loss was to the 11th ranked wrestler and it was a close match (2-1).”
Correnti, in his first two matches as a Broncs, won by fall against Central Michigan and won the deciding match in the win over Kent State. “Mauro did a great job,” Taylor said. “He helped us win that last match. It was a tight match and he fought hard to help us.”
Against Utah Valley, sophomore B.J. Clagon (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) and Brennan won major decisions. Junior 141 Paul Kirchner (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) and senior 157 Curt Delia (Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea) also won.
Clagon, an All-American ranked fourth in the nation, went 1-2 on the day. “BJ did not have a good day,” Taylor said. “He is going to have to learn how to handle having a target on his back.”
Against Central Michigan, junior 197 Ryan Wolfe (New Castle, Del./Caravel Academy) won along with Brennan, Fagg-Daves and Correnti. “Wolfe came into today banged up and he looked it,” Taylor said.
Against Kent State junior 125 Brenden Calas (Clark, NJ/Seton Hall Prep), senior 141 Jimmy Morris (Northport, NY/St. Anthony's) and sophomore 157 Chad Walsh (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) also won, along with Stinson and Correnti.
Rider competes again November 22 at the Keystone Classic. “We will get back to the drawing board and train hard for the Keystone Classic,” Taylor said.
