Perkins Honored by CollegeSportsMadness.com

LAWRENCEVILLE—Sophomore Robin Perkins (Willingboro/Trenton Catholic) of the Rider University women's basketball team was recognized as the CollegeSportsMadness.com Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for all games January 12-18.

For the week, Perkins shot 51.6 percent and averaged 20.0 points and 2.5 steals per contest.

Rider's leading scorer for the season, Perkins led the Broncs to an undefeated week in the MAAC, with the Broncs posting wins over Niagara 61-56 and Iona 85-81 in overtime.

In 32 minutes against the Purple Eagles, Perkins had 13 points and three steals as Rider led by 10 with 1:15 left and held on for its first conference win of the season.

Against second place Iona on the road, Perkins matched Iona 2,000 point scorer Damika Martinez basket for basket, scoring 27 points and adding two assists and two steals in 28 minutes of action as Rider won in overtime.

Perkins scored 11 of Rider's 15 points in the o.t. period shooting five for five from the field (compared to two for five for Martinez) and overall in the game, Perkins went 11-17 from the field (.647), compared to 13 for 25 for Martinez.

Rider travels to Bridgeport, Connecticut on Thursday for a 5:00pm game against Fairfield University on ESPN 3.
