Rider's Deutsch Honored for Academics by NWCA
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Rider University's Robert Deutsch has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team.
“No surprise here,” said associate head coach John Hangey. “Rob does the right thing both on and off the mat. He is the true definition of a student athlete and leads his team by example in all areas of his life.”
A junior Criminal Justice major with a grade point average of 3.4, Deutsch (Cherry Hill, NJ/Eastern Regional) was an EWL Champion and a National Qualifier this year, his first at Rider.
Deutsch was 32-6 this season, with two wins coming at the NCAA Division I Championships.
Deutsch went 21-1 in dual meets and was 6-0 in the EWL dual meet season. He went 3-0 in the EWL Championship Tournament to win his 125 pound weight class.
