PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match at Temple University on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
“It was a beautiful day to play tennis,” said head coach Ed Torres. “No wind, no snow, no nothing weather wise.”
For Rider, senior Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) won four games at number one singles before losing in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
“Rollie played a good match against a strong number one player,” Torres said. “He kept the ball in play and won four games. He played a steady match and did well for himself. The other guys were just a little short on the rallies. Temple played just a little steadier. We played hard and did our best.”
Both the Rider men's and women's tennis teams host Wagner on Tuesday afternoon.
