Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
WEST LONG BRANCH—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Monmouth University on Friday afternoon.
The match was also an hour glass rivalry match.
“We finally got a break in the weather and it was a beautiful day,” said head coach Ed Torres. “Monmouth is a very strong team and they just overpowered us.”
The Hawks won three matches 6-0, 6-0 and the other three matches 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Chanton Phan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and freshman Adam Levi (Princeton Junction/Pennington School) won two games at second doubles before losing 8-2.
“We played hard,” Torres added. “Monmouth just made too many shots.”
The Rider men are back in action on Sunday for a non-conference match at Temple, beginning at noon.
