Smith, Wayman Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE-Rider's Adam Wayman was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Tyler Smith was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week for all games played February 25-March 3.

Wayman (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) batted .600 last week with an .800 slugging percentage, collecting nine hits in four Rider victories.

Wayman had three doubles, scored five runs and knocked in five and he also walked four times. At third base Wayman had six assists and a put out without an error in the field last week.

Smith (Westmont/Haddon Twp.), a 6'2", 220 lefty, threw a complete game (7 inn) shutout  at Radford of Big South with eight strike outs and no walks last week to improve to 2-0 on the season.

A Preseason All-American closer last year, Smith is now 6-4 as a starter, 16-12 overall in his career with 27 saves.

Rider (6-1) is off to its best start since 1991.
