Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

JERSEY CITY—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Saint Peter's on Sunday afternoon.

The Peacocks won 7-0.

“Saint Peter's just had more experienced players,” said head coach Ed Torres.  “We hit the ball back and forth nicely with them but they really dictated the points.  They put some nice pace on the ball and were able to hit winning shots easier on the rallies.”

For Rider, freshman Chanton Phan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and freshman Matthew Begley (Pennington/Hopewell Valley Central) each won four games.

Phan played at number two singles, losing 6-1, 6-3 and Begley was at sixth singles, losing 6-2, 6-2.

The Rider men travel to Staten Island to face Wagner on Tuesday.
