Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University men's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Marist College on Monday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
"Marist dominated the match," said head coach Ed Torres. "For the last four or five years, Marist has won the MAAC and you saw why today. Even playing without two of their top players, they swept through the match. Even their number seven and eight guys are really, really good."
For Rider, junior Milo Milosovici (Florence), junior Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional) and junior Ryan Carpenter (Sahuarita, Ariz./Sahuarita) each won one game before being swept by the defending MAAC champion Red Foxes.
"I tell the guys to just go out and do their best," said Torres about how to approach playing Marist. "It's hard but you have to try to learn some things by watching how they play and by doing that, it makes you a stronger player down the road."
Rider travels to Fordham on Wednesday for a non-conference match at 11am.
