Takes On Shippensburg First
LOCK HAVEN, PA-The Rider University wrestling team begins the dual meet season with a pair of duals Friday night, taking on Shippensburg University at 5pm and host Lock Haven University and 8pm.
In the season opening Binghamton Open, Rider had a champion, a runner-up, a third place, a fourth place and two fifth place finishers.
Lock Haven had two runners-up, a third place, a fifth place, and a sixth place finisher.
Rider and Lock Haven have not met in a dual meet since 2009, and Rider has won the last two meetings. Lock Haven leads the all-time series, however, 16-4.
Lock Haven's 149 Mac Maldarelli and 285 Harry Turner were a combined 8-2 at Binghamton, both placing second.
For Rider at Binghamton, junior Ramon Santiago (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville) won the 165 title, junior James Brundage (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) was the 174 runner-up, sophomore Clint Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) was third at 184, senior Zac Cibula (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg Casco) was fourth at 157, sophomore 133 Jimmy Morris (Northport, NY/St. Anthony's) and sophomore 197 Donald McNeil (Plainville, Mass./Wyoming Seminary) were fifth.
