PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match against La Salle University Friday afternoon at the Arthur Ashe Indoor Tennis Center.

"La Salle had a very good team," said head coach Ed Torres.  "We could have played a little better but they had more experience.  "We did ok keeping the ball in play but we seemed to make the error first in a lot of the matches."

For Rider, freshman Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) won his fourth match of the season, posting a 6-2, 6-2, straight set win at number one singles.

"Rollie looked like he was playing on a surface that he really liked," said Torres.  "The indoor surface is a little faster and the ball bounces a little lower and that is suited for Rollie's power game."

Both the Bronc men's and women's teams host St. Francis (NY) on Sunday at noon on the Lawrenceville campus.
