Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--The Rider University men's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Marist on Thursday afternoon.
"Marist is the perennial MAAC champion," said head coach Ed Torres. "They have a very good team."
For the Broncs, sophomore Milo Milosovici (Florence) won five games at second singles before losing 6-3, 6-2 with sophomore John Spellman (Toms River/Toms River HS South) winning four games at fourth singles before losing 6-2, 6-2.
"Watching our team play, we are getting better," said Torres. "The scores may not always indicate it but we are getting better by playing this type of strong competition. We are improving by seeing these experienced players in competition. We are keeping the ball in play longer and hitting better shots."
The Rider men travel to Western, New York to take on Niagara in a MAAC match on Saturday at 6pm, the final match of the spring 2011 season.
The Bronc women host Philadelphia U. on Friday in their final match of the spring season.
