Hofstra University 7, Rider University 0
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.--The Rider University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match at Hofstra University Sunday afternoon.
"Hofstra made fewer errors than we did," said head coach Ed Torres. "They (Hofstra) hit the ball very hard and with accuracy. We were out-played by a superior team."
For Rider, junior Ryan Carpenter (Sahuarita, Ariz./Sahuarita) took his sixth singles match to three sets before losing 5-7, 6-1, 10-3.
"Ryan played very well, especially in the first set that he won," said Torres. "He just couldn't sustain it for the duration of the match. He played very steady and did well."
Both the Rider men's and women's tennis teams host Drexel University Tuesday afternoon on the Lawrenceville campus courts.
