LAWRENCEVILLE--Both the Rider University men's and women's tennis teams lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Siena on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints won the women's match 6-1 with the Siena men winning 7-0.
"Siena was steadier than we were," said head coach Ed Torres. "They made the shots when it counted and played all around better tennis."
For the Rider women against the Saints, freshman Michelle Caravaglio (Manalapan/Freehold) won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles.
"Michelle had a nice match," said Torres. "She is a nice player and I expect her to move up in the lineup as she continues her collegiate career. She did well today."
For the Rider men against Siena, junior Mike Gershon (East Brunswick) and junior Milo Milosovici (Florence) won 8-6 at third doubles.
"Mike teamed up with Milo and played well," Torres said. "He is a transfer from Brookdale Community College so he has some experience and he was victorious in his debut for Rider."
"Overall, it was a well played match," Torres added about the day. "We lucked out that it didn't rain and it is always good to play Siena as we usually have good competitive matches with them."
The Rider men host Rutgers Camden on Monday at 3pm on the Lawrenceville
campus courts.
