LAWRENCEVILLE--The good news is that Rider got off 24 shots, including 10 on goal. The bad news is that none of them found the back of the net. "We didn't get the win, but being able to create that many opportunities against a good team is a positive," said Rider head coach Drayson Hounsome.

The Broncs played a double overtime contest for the third time in as many games this season, tying St. Francis-PA Sunday afternoon in the 2010 season home opener. "Hopefully we'll get a 90 minute game in soon and a win as well," Hounsome said, "but if we have a few 109 minute games and some wins we'll be happy with that as well."

Rider (0-1-2) out-shot St. Francis-PA (3-2-1) 24-23, including 19-17 in regulation. "Getting 24 shots off is pleasing," Hounsome said. "Now we have to find a way to turn these opportunities into wins."

The Broncs played six freshmen today, including three who started. "At one point we had six freshmen on the field," Hounsome said. "With a young team like this, at this point in the season getting a good performance (and a tie) is better than a bad performance where we got a 1-0 win on a lucky goal."

Rider senior goalkeeper Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made nine saves for her first shutout of the season and the seventh of her career. "Alex had another strong game," Hounsome said. "She's given up three goals in 320 minutes, with two of those goals from 25 yards out. We're doing good."

"I hope for my teammates' sake we play a 90 minute game soon," Post said. "They are doing a lot of running."

Lauren Fearer made 10 saves for St. Francis.

Red Flash freshman forward Barbara Maros de Carvalho of Brazil had three shots. "That girl from Brazil is going to be one of the best players we see this year." Hounsome said. "She is very talented and tough to deal with. The fact that we shut her down is good."

"Anytime 15 (Maros de Carvalho) had the ball at her feet we were a little nervous because we knew she was a really good player," Post said. "Carley did a great job marking her. We had a lot of young players step up today."

"We had some really strong performances today," Hounsome said. "(Freshman) Carolyn Wiley (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and (freshman) Carley Carmody (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) performed well in the back, did a real solid job on some good performers on their end. Same thing up top. (Freshman) Jennifer Meier (Sayville, NY/St. Anthony's) had another strong game. (Freshman) Becca Kape (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) was very strong at the back. (Freshman) Bridgette Bartkowski (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) did well. I just named five freshmen, and (senior) Kimberly Reichel (Chester, N.J./Mendham) had another strong game. Across the board we had fine performances."

"We didn't do anything bad today," Post said. "I thought we played really well."

Rider travels to Delaware State Wednesday before hosting FDU in the first-ever night game on the Rider campus Friday at 7:15 pm. "We've got four games in eight days, which can take its toll," Hounsome said, "but the players are doing good. They're playing well. We just have to figure out a way to get the win. If we keep playing like this the wins will come."

"I love this field," Post said. "I can't wait until Friday night to play on this field at night. We have a game Wednesday that we're concentrating on now but we're really excited about Friday night."
