LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match to the New Jersey Institute of Technology Wednesday afternoon.
For Rider, senior Marc Ashed (Vineland) won four games at second singles with junior Rob Olsen (Marlton/Cherokee) winning four games at sixth singles.
"Today was a difficult match," said head coach Ed Torres. "NJIT is a very experienced team and they beat one of the conference powerhouses (Fairfield) only a few days ago."
The Rider women host La Salle on Thursday at 3:00pm with the men's team traveling to Saint Joseph's for a non-conference match on April 10 at 12:30pm.
"We have a young team but I've been telling the team all season, playing these types of teams will only make us better," Torres added. "The dividends will pay off for the team in the future. NJIT was very good and we are still learning."
