2007-08 Season Highlights

Highlights of the 2007-08 Rider University women's basketball season.

 

Team Highlights

 

--Rider quadrupled the amount of wins over last season and finished with the highest win total in four seasons.

 

--14 of the Rider losses were by less than 10 points, the most single-digit losses in the country for Division I.

 

--Rider defeated teams from Conference USA (Central Florida), the Northeast Conference (Monmouth), the Patriot League (Army), the Colonial Athletic Association (Hofstra) and the Ivy League (Princeton) during the 2007-08 season.

 

--Under first year head coach and Rider alum Lynn Milligan, the Broncs added over 200 fans per game in Alumni Gym with the Broncs posting five more home wins over the 2006-07 season.

 

--Rider tripled its number of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) wins.

 

--The Broncs defense allowed 8.4 less points per game and were only out-scored by 7.1 points per game after being out-scored by 16.6 points per game in 2006-07.

 

--Cardiac Kids - Rider had two buzzer beaters to send games into overtime and another two shots in the final minute to defeat Central Florida and cross-town rival Princeton.

 

--Rider tied for first in the MAAC and was 57th in the nation in three-point field goals per game (6.1).

 

--Seven women's basketball players were honored during Academic Achievement Night for a grade point average over a 3.0.

 

 

Individual Highlights

 

--Senior Janele Henderson became only the 17th Bronc in women's basketball history to hit the 1,000 career point plateau.  Henderson hit a three-pointer on national television (ESPNU) before almost 1,000 fans in Alumni Gym.

 

--Henderson was second in the MAAC averaging 35.8 minutes per game and ranked third in the conference and 49th in the nation averaging 2.4 three-point field goals per game.

 

--Henderson led Rider and ranked sixth in the MAAC averaging 14.2 points per game and was 13th in the conference in free throw percentage (.786).

 

--Henderson was named the MAAC Player of the Week for all games played the first week of the season.  Janele played 77 of a possible 80 minutes and averaged 22.0 points per game.

 

--Junior Shaunice Parker led Rider with six ?double-doubles'.

 

--Parker ranked second in the MAAC and 58th in the nation averaging 8.7 rebounds per game and led the MAAC averaging 6.1 defensive rebounds per game.  Parker was fifth in the conference averaging 1.83 steals per game and fifth in offensive rebounds averaging 2.63 per game.

 

--Parker ranked ninth in the MAAC in blocks per game (0.73) and 14th in field goal percentage (.396).

 

--Junior Danielle Costantino led the Broncs in grade point average and received MAAC All-Academic honors.

 

--Sophomore Tammy Meyers ranked 11th in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.410) and 15th in steals per game (1.43).

 

--Meyers was second on the team and ranked 18th in the MAAC averaging 11.0 points per game.

 

--Sophomore Amanda Sepulveda was eighth in the MAAC in three-point field goals made (1.90), 11th in assists per game (2.77), 12th in three-point field goal percentage (.345) and 15th in the conference with a .393 field goal percentage and 15th in minutes per game (31.63).

 

--Sepulveda was third on the team and was 23rd in the MAAC averaging 9.9 points per game.

 

--Sophomore Ashley Anderson was 14th in the MAAC in blocks per game (0.50) and 16th in the conference averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.
