LAWRENCEVILLE?The Broncs' unbeaten streak ended at eight games with a loss to Towson Sunday afternoon. “I guess it had to end sooner or later,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long. “We just didn't play well against a good team.”

Towson (5-1) scored with a little over 10 minutes left in the first half, and scored again just 54 seconds into the second half. “Towson is very well coached and plays with good pace. They have some excellent players who attack for 90 minutes.”

The Tigers out-shot Rider (2-1-3) 19-12, including 13-5 in the second half. “I think we had chances early on,” Long said. “We started out well but we haven't put together 90 minutes of real solid play, and that is a problem.”

Freshman goalkeeper Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made six saves for Rider, while Brandi Daniels made nine saves for Towson.

Freshman Kara Perkoski (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) continues to impress the Rider coaching staff with her play.  “Kara had a very good weekend,” Long said.  “In both Friday's game and today she provided great energy up front.”

The loss was the first for Rider in nine games, dating back to last season when Rider went 2-0-1 over its final three games.

This was the third meeting between these two teams, with Towson winning all three.  “Towson is going to be near the top of their conference,” Long said, “and that is who we want to be playing against.”

Rider plays at Monmouth Friday. “The energy level has not been has high as it has needed to be over these last two home games,” Long said. “I don't think that will be a problem at Monmouth. A lot of our players know a lot of their players, so a friendly rivalry exists. They are a good team.”
