Rider University Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Rotondo announced the addition of Sydney Gonzalez to the team's coaching staff in mid-August of 2021. Gonzalez will join the Broncs as an assistant coach for the 2021 season.
Gonzalez began coaching volleyball at Central Jersey Volleyball Academy through the youth development program in 2012 and continued coaching volleyball at CJVA until 2015 when she went to Ursinus College to pursue her degree in media and communications while playing volleyball for the Bears. While in college Gonzalez also spent time coaching a youth development team coach, a regional 12's team, a national15's club team and a beach volleyball team.
Gonzalez played four years of college volleyball at Ursinus and was the starting libero for three years, a team captain as a senior and a three-year member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
After graduating from Ursinus, Gonzalez continued to gain experience coaching volleyball and spent two seasons as the girl’s freshman volleyball coach at Hillsborough High School, her alma mater, and two seasons as the boy’s junior varsity volleyball coach at Hillsborough High School. Additionally, she coached a girls 16's national team at CJVA as well as a boys 15's and 16s national team. Gonzalez also coached a beach volleyball team for CJVA’s sand program as well as at a High Performance camp in the summers of 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Gonzalez resides in Hillsborough, New Jersey.
