Prado Hired as Assistant Coach
LAWRENCEVILLE—Head coach Christopher Feliciano of the Rider University volleyball team has announced the hiring of Rebecca Prado as assistant coach.
Prado comes to Rider from Maryland Eastern Shore, where she compiling over 1,101 digs in her career.
“I’m excited,” Prado said. “Having played just a few years ago, I definitely know the perspective of the current players. Knowing what they are going through will help me to coach them better. My philosophy is to work hard and you will achieve your goals.”
Prado helped lead the Hawks to their first MEAC Championship as a senior in 2011 as the Hawks compiled a 24-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Championship against UCLA and as a student assistant coach, Prado helped the Hawks to a best-ever 28-6 season and another MEAC Championship.
During the 2011 season, Prado led Hawks and finished sixth in the MEAC regular season in digs per set, finishing with 356 digs (3.07 per game), along with 30 service aces and 23 assists, helping the Hawks to a 19-match winning streak.
Prado also earned MEAC All-Academic honors.
As a freshman, Prado appeared in 23 matches and compiled 319 digs before Wagner College dropped the sport of volleyball and she transferred to Maryland Eastern Shore.
From Annandale, New Jersey, Prado played for North Hunterdon High School where she led the Lions to the state finals for the first time in school history and a 21-7 record as a senior.
A three-year starter, Prado was named the Central Jersey Player of the Year, Third Team All-State and First Team All-Group IV by the Star Ledger while earning First Team All-Area honors from the Courier News and the Express Times and she was also a Skyland Conference First Team selection
Prado also played club volleyball for the Atlantic Valley Volleyball Club, earning a bid to the national meet in Texas.
