Biography

High School:
Averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game for 28-1 Group IV State Champion Lenape High...named second team All-South Jersey and first team All-State Group IV...selected to play in the New Jersey North-South All-Star game...led Lenape to its first State Title and undefeated regular season...as a junior averaged 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots per game.

At Rider: 

--Haggerty Award Winner as the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Year

 

--Selected to play in National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star Game at Final Four, where he compiled 12 points (5 for 7 from field, 2 of 2 foul line), 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists in 23 minutes against the best college seniors in the country.

 

--Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America

 

-- US Basketball Writers’ Association District II Player of the Year and the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 3 selection.

 

--MAAC Player of the Year and the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year.

 

--Named to the 15-man collegeinsider.com All-America team along with Hansbrough of NC, Beasley of K State, Rush of Kansas, Rose of Memphis, Love of UCLA, Curry of Davidson.

 

--Ranks second in the nation in rebounding (12.1), 18th in blocked shots (2.7), 29th in scoring (20.4) and 36th in field goal percentage (.560).

 

--One of just 96 Division I players EVER to compile BOTH 2,000 points (2,040) and 1,000 rebounds (1,171).

 

--Enjoyed three games this season where he had 20+ points AND 20+ rebounds, a feat not accomplished on the Division I level in at least 12 years.

 

--Compiled 24 ?double-doubles’ this year and 54 for his career

 

--Named to the Old Spice Classic All-Tournament Team along with Courtney Fells of North Carolina State, Michael Beasley of Kansas State, Will Thomas of George Mason and Scottie Reynolds of Villanova.

 

--When he went head-to-head against Michael Beasley Thompson compiled 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals, while Beasley had 13 points, 10 rebounds, 0 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal.  In that game Rider trailed 71-67 with 3:30 left.

 

--MAAC Player of the Week seven times this year.

 

--Fouled out of 0 games this season and just 2 as a junior.

 

--Played in 122 career games at Rider and compiled 2,040 points and 1,171 rebounds

 

--Named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 and again in 2008.

 

--Blocked 91 shots this year and 235 in his career

 

--Made 11 three-point field goals this year and 30 in his career.
