Roy Blumenthal returned to Kevin Baggett's staff in Summer 2025, following a season as Director of Program Management at Fordham in 2024-25. Blumenthal previously served on the Rider Men's Basketball staff in the roles of Director of Player Development and Special Assistant to the Head Coach from 2019-20 through 2023-24.
Blumenthal spent a majority of his career at his alma mater, West Chester University, when he served 26 years as an assistant coach. Â During that span, Blumenthal mentored 50 all-conference players and the program boasted a 95 percent graduation rate while averaging 19 wins per season and appearing in six NCAA Division II Tournaments. Â West Chester turned in a winning record in 24 of Blumenthal's 26 seasons on staff, including a stretch of 17 straight.

While at West Chester, Blumenthal also served as a development assistant and an adjunct professor in the department of physical education. Blumenthal received West Chester University’s Men’s Hall of Fame Milt Blitz Award in 2007 for his outstanding contribution to the game of basketball as a University alumnus.
Blumenthal also has experience coaching at the high school level, including two years as the head basketball coach at Avon Grove High School from 2016-18, leading the team to 23 games in two years after winning just 21 games in the seven years prior to his arrival.

Blumenthal is also the founder of Global Sports Academy, a non-profit that seeks to foster international good will and an enhanced understanding between nations through sports.Â

Blumenthal holds a bachelor's degree from West Chester in sports administration. He served three years in the United States Army before beginning his undergraduate studies at West Chester.
