FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University women's soccer team was on the wrong side of a 3-0 loss during the opening match of the 2026 Metro Conference season as the Broncs fell to Fairfield on Saturday night in the Nutmeg State. With the loss, the Broncs fall to a record of 1-2-1 while the Stags improve to a record of 3-3-1.
Ashley Moore was called into action early, recording a save in the third minute while the defense withstood the Stags in the opening minutes to keep Fairfield out nearly. In the 19
th minute,
Ava Ferrie found room to record a shot on goal while forcing the Stag's goal stop into action to knock away the first shot ion target of the game.
On the stroke of halftime, the Stags beat Moore to the goal line to take a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.
Ferrie once again forced the Fairfield goalkeeper to make a save, recording a shot on goal in the 45
th minute to open the half.
Fairfield scored two more times during the second half to round off the match in Connecticut.
