LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's soccer team fell to Siena on Saturday at Ben Cohen Field by a score of 6-0. With the loss, the Broncs fall to a record of 1-3-1 while the Saints improve to 6-1-1 on the young Metro season.
Ashley Moore was called upon early to make a save, denying Siena's first shot on target in the 10
th minute while
Annie Small recorded the first attempt at goal for the Broncs in the 16
th minute.
Tess Ferrie recorded the first attempt on goal in the 27
th minute, finding space only for her shot to be saved by the opposition shot stopper.
Siena continued to press on through the midway point of the first half, with Moore coming up with a save on a shot in the 39
th minute. But the Saint scored with eight minutes on the clock in the 37
th minute, sending the Broncs into halftime down 1-0.
Ava Ferrie recorded a shot in the 48
th minute to open the half only for the Saints to score in succession in the 50
th and 53
rd minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Siena possessed the ball for the next ten minutes, recording two shots in the 55
th and 58
th minutes while converting on a shot in the 61
st minute to make it 4-0. Siena converted on two more attempts for goals, rounding out the game.

"We are playing a team with a lot more than what we have, right? So that's the starting point. So what are the expectations? The team [Siena] was 5-1-1 coming into this game, a team that was in the playoffs last year. So, I thought we had a really good first half. I thought our ball possession was the better of the two teams. I thought we created problems for them in their formation. It was disappointing to give up a goal just before halftime, but I was really proud of how we battled, we competed, we showed good passion in that first half. Second half, we've come out, we've started fairly well but they are quality, they are a good team. So, balls come in and the girls were able to score quality goals, so they've just got a little bit of quality that we don't have. So, despite our drive, our passion, our effort, quality will often override that if they've got an equal measure of it. So, I think it more just highlights the level of quality that they have [Siena]. The girls [Rider] didn't quit, you know. The third goal was almost the sucker punch goal, goals after that are meaningless. It doesn't matter if you lose 6-0, 1-0, 2-0, or 5-0. We're not bothered about the score." – Head Coach

- Siena edged Rider in total corners 3-2 while also slighting the Broncs 8-7 on fouls.

- Macy Laidlaw made her collegiate debut against the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
