Men’s Soccer Looking for Bounce Back Win Against NJIT on Friday Night at Home

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's soccer team hosts the visiting NJIT Highlanders for a Friday night, non-conference match-up on August 4 at 7:00 p.m. on Ben Cohen Field.

MATCH FACTS
  • Men's soccer fell to FDU on Monday, August 31 away in Teaneck, recording their first loss of the young 2026 campaign.
  • Patryk Rojek's 40th minute goal against the Knights drew the game heading into halftime after FDU converted on an earlier scoring opportunity. The Knights drew a penalty in the 58th minute, beating the goalkeeper on the line to retake the lead with the Broncs unable to score again in the match to round things off.
  • The Broncs out shot the Knights 11-9 on Monday night, with FDU besting Rider 4-3 in shots on goal.
  • Through the three games so far played in the 2026 season, Emmanuel Dan-Adokiene leads the locker room with two goals followed by solo scoring mark's by Rojek and Chiemeka Azurunwa. The aforementioned Azurunwa and Carter Schmitz are the only broncs who have recorded assists in 2026, both having notch one.
  • Starting in all three games for the Broncs in 2026, Marius Helias has recorded nine saves in goal while notching a record of 2-1-0 in the net, only having given up one goal from open play and a penalty, both against FDU on Monday.
  • NJIT has notched a record of 2-2-0 so far in 2026, recording 4-1 and 1-0 wins against Manhattan and Loyola (MD) respectively. Their losses have come in contests against Siena and Saint Joseph's, losing 3-1 against the Saints and 1-0 against the Hawks.
  • Diogo Rebelo leads the Highlanders club in points and goals, recording two goals and an assist for five points. Jeremy Klinger and Zain Thompson have recorded two assists each for NJIT while Andre Faerman has recorded eight saves in goal through four starts.
  • Since 2007, the broncs have recorded a record of 5-3-5 against the Highlanders, losing the most recent contest 1-0 on September 6, 2025 in Newark. In 2024 when Rider hosted NJIT in Lawrenceville, the Broncs were on the right side of a 2-1 win, improving their record to 3-2-2 against the Highlanders and Ben Cohen.
