BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University women's soccer team fell by a score of 1-0 to Canisius after a late goal by the Golden Griffins came in the 89
th minute to steal the three points. With the loss, the Broncs fall to a record of 1-4-1 while Canisius improves to a record of 4-4-0.
After a back and forth first 29 minutes of the match,
Tess Ferrie logged the first shot on goal of the game, having her shot saved by the opponent's goalkeeper.
Ashley Moore was called into action a minute later, denying a scoring opportunity from Canisius with a save.
Courtney Carter later logged a shot on goal in the 32
nd minute, with the shot being saved by the keeper, rounding off the last real chance of the half to send the teams into the break with a goalless tie.
Tess Ferrie opened the half up with a shot on goal in the 46
th minute while Moore came up with another crucial save in the 77
th minute to keep things level. Moore came up with another save in the 88
th before the Golden Griffins scored on the rebound to take the late lead. The Broncs did their best to work another shot with 21 seconds left, but
Ava DeGeorge's shot went wide to round out the result.
