FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University softball team was defeated Sunday in the final game of its series at Fairfield, falling 8-0 in five innings. The Broncs fall to 24-20 on the season and 14-10 in MAAC play, while the Stags improve to 24-22 on the year and 16-7 in league games.
The Stags were in control of the game from the start, scoring three in the first, then adding a run in third, and finally two more in both the fourth and the fifth.
Fairfield held the Broncs offense down in the contest. Rider got a leadoff walk by
Aspen Wheeler (Lampasas, TX/Lampasas) in the first, but would not get a hit until
Fallyn Stoeckel (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) led off the fourth with a single. The hit would prove to be Rider's lone one in the contest.
