WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider baseball team dropped a road contest at Monmouth on Sunday afternoon. The Broncs move to 23-14 overall (16-5 MAAC), while the Hawks improve to 24-17 (15-6 CAA).
Monmouth jumped out to an early advantage, plating two runs in the first before adding three in both the third and fourth innings to build an 8-0 lead.
Rider broke through in the top of the fifth.
Will Gallagher drew a leadoff walk, and
Kyle Neri followed with a one-out single to right to put two aboard.
Charley Magoulick then delivered an RBI single to right, bringing home the Broncs' first run of the game.
The Broncs added another in the sixth, capitalizing on a Monmouth error to cut the deficit to 8-2.
The Hawks answered in the bottom half of the sixth and tacked on three more runs over the seventh and eighth innings to secure the 12-2 final.
