Baseball Blasts 17 Hits in 11-5 Win Over Stony Brook

Magoulick Goes Yard Twice

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider baseball team piled up 17 hits and got a two-homer day from Charley Magoulick to roll past Stony Brook, 11-5, on Wednesday afternoon at Sonny Pittaro Field. The Broncs improve to 24-14 (16-5 MAAC), while the Seawolves drop to 17-25 (12-12 CAA).

Rider wasted no time jumping in front, striking for three in the first on an Anthony Paskell sacrifice fly and a two-run blast to right from Magoulick.

The Broncs added another in the second on a Will Gallagher sac fly to make it 4-0.

Kyle Neri sparked the third with a leadoff triple, and Paskell followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.

Stony Brook answered with a run in the fourth before erupting for four in the fifth, using back-to-back home runs, a three-run shot, and a solo blast, to even the score at 5-5.

The game stayed deadlocked until the bottom of the eighth, when Rider broke it open. Eliot Medlock led off the inning with a go-ahead solo homer to left. After a one-out single from pinch hitter Demetri Bardatsos, Gallagher delivered an RBI knock to center to push the lead to 7-5.

After a flyout pushed runners into scoring position, Paskell kept the offense rolling with a two-out, two-run single to stretch the advantage to 9-5. Magoulick capped the six-run outburst with a bang, crushing his second two-run homer of the day over the right-field wall to put the game away at 11-5.

Quotes and Notes
"It was a strong win for us. I thought we came out with better intensity and the right mindset from the start, and it showed. In a tie game, Eliot came through with a big hit to spark things, and Demetri put together a really good day at the plate. Gallagher, Paskell, and Hartmann all had big hits, and Charley delivered another big one for us as well. We had a big eighth inning and swung it well, finishing with 17 hits. Our bullpen was solid, and it was a complete team win." - Acting Head Coach Dr. Barry Davis

- Magoulick notched his ninth home run of the season, going deep twice on the day, while Medlock added his sixth of the year.
- Gallagher recorded his third double, and Neri picked up his second triple of the season.
- Rider has now scored 10 or more runs in 14 games this season, improving to 12-2 in those contests.
