Lacrosse Falls at Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, MD – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was topped Saturday afternoon, falling 17-2 at Mount St. Mary's. The Broncs fall to 1-11 on the season and 0-3 in league play, while the Mountaineers improve to 7-4 on the year on 3-0 in league games.
 
The Mountaineers jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first and extended the lead to 5-0 early in the second when Kaleigh Colleary (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart[Butler]) scored to stop the early Mount run. Mount St. Mary's would respond, closing out the half with a 6-0 run to take an 11-1 lead into the break.
 
In the third, the Mount scored twice to push its advantage to 13-1 when Marybeth Smith (Macungie, PA/Emmaus[La Salle]) found the back of the cage. The Mountaineers would score twice more in the third and twice in the fourth while holding the Broncs scoreless over the game's final 26 minutes to seal the victory.
