Baseball Takes Game Two, Clinches Series at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MD – The Rider baseball team secured its third MAAC series victory of the season with a 6-2 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. The Broncs improved to 11-5 overall (6-1 MAAC), while the Mountaineers moved to 10-10 (4-4 MAAC).

Rider wasted no time getting on the board, striking in the opening inning. Will Gallagher drew a leadoff walk before Erich Hartmann reached on a fielder's choice. Kyle Neri followed with a double to put runners in scoring position, and Anthony Paskell delivered an RBI single that, coupled with a Mount St. Mary's error, brought home two runs for an early 2-0 lead.

The Broncs added to their advantage in the fourth inning when Peter Crespo lined a two-run hit to right field, extending the lead to 4-0.

Rider continued to build in the fifth, as Paskell launched a two-run home run over the left-field wall, his second of the series, to make it 6-0.

Mount St. Mary's pushed across runs in the fifth and seventh innings, but Rider's pitching staff held the Mountaineers in check the rest of the way to secure the 6-2 victory and clinch the series.
