Women's Basketball Loses at Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Rider University women's basketball team was defeated at Merrimack, 73-37, Saturday afternoon. The Broncs drop to 5-18 on the season, and 3-11 in MAAC play, while the Warriors improve to 13-10 on the year, and 10-4 in league play.
 
The Broncs opened the game strong, tied 7-7, Kristina Ekofo (Brussels, Belgium/ Établissement Des Soeurs De Notre Dame[North Dakota State University/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M]) converted a layup before a three by Kaylan Deveney (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) gave the Broncs a five-point lead. Leading 14-9, the Warriors countered with an 8-0 run to lead 17-14 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The Warriors extended the run to 17-0, scoring the first nine points of the second quarter and led 31-16 at the half.
 
Leading 44-29, the Warriors closed the third on a 6-0 run to lead 50-29 entering the fourth. Another 12 points to open the fourth made it an 18-0 run and put the game out of reach.

- Merrimack held a 40-34 advantage on the glass, but Rider held a 13-10 edge on the offensive boards. McIver and Deveney each had five rebounds to lead the Broncs.
