NEW YORK, NY – The Rider men's indoor track and field team concluded day one of the 2026 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday evening with several strong performances and multiple qualifiers advancing to Sunday's finals.
Michael Palmer captured gold in the high jump, clearing 2.06m to claim the event title.
In the weight throw,
Damere Lassiter earned bronze with a mark of 16.91m.
On the track,
Trey Cummings advanced to the 200m final after posting a qualifying time of 22.04.
Tamrat Snyder secured a spot in the 800m final with a time of 1:54.58 and also qualified for the mile final alongside
Ethan Peffley.
In the hurdles,
Camryn Thomas and Nathan Stortz each punched their ticket to the 60m hurdle final.

"We had a strong day today. Everything was not perfect, but we set ourselves up for a chance at a nice opportunity tomorrow.
Palmer was the star today with a big win in the high jump. He's coming back from injury, but he really steps up when he is needed. This was a huge performance today.
Damere really got things rolling with a big third-place finish in the weight throw.
Trey had a really nice day with two PRs and advancing in the 200. Ray had a nice competition in the pole vault. He's been very consistent for us this year.
