BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team was victorious in its first action of 2026 following the winter break, defeating Canisius, 204-90. The Broncs improve to 2-3 on the year and 2-1 in MAAC meets, while the Golden Griffins drop to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in league meets.
Rider won 15 events in the meet.
To open the meet,
Sebastian Canosa (Morristown, NJ/Morristown),
Maxwell Connelly (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon),
Nelson Paraison (Newark, NJ/Hackensack), and
Max Manolache (Knoxville, TN/McCallie School) combined to swim 1:34.73 to win the 200-medley relay.
Luke Mesco (Mullica Hill, NJ/Mother of Divine Grace) and
Filippo Sala (Davie, FL/Nova Southeastern University School) swam one-two in the 1,000-free, stopping the clock at 10:14.17 and 10:19.51. Mesco later won the 500-free with a time of 4:53.41.
In the 200-free,
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) and
Dawid Turos (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) finished one-two, touching the wall at 1:44.29 and 1:44.52. The duo also swam one-two in the 50-free with times of 21.75 and 21.90. The pair then flipped places in the 100-free with Turos winning in 47.11 and Rogowski taking second 48.22.
Rider swept the 100-back with Canosa,
Riley Rowan (Simpsonville, SC/Clonlara), and
Zach McKatten (West Milford, NJ/Passaic County Technical Vocational School) finishing in 51.76, 52.87, and 54.03.
In the 100-breast, Connelly and
Matthew Borovik (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) finished one-two, stopping the clock at 57.58 and 59.24. Connelly later won the 200-breast with a time of 2:08.56.
On the 1-meter,
Steven Figueroa (Whittier, CA/La Serna) and
Stavros Xantheas (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) finished one-two, scoring 232.35 and 229.05. The pair also finished one-two on the 3-meter with scores of 253.20 and 194.70.
In the 200-back,
Joey Milhomens (Wolcott, CT/Wolcott) swam one-two with Canosa, touching the wall at 1:55.90 and 1:58.94. Milhomens won the 200-IM with a time of 2:00.12.
Tivon Benjamin (Palm Bay, FL/St. Anthony's Secondary School) took the 100-fly with a time of 51.53.
The Broncs closed out the meet with Turos, Rogowski, Benjamin, and Mesco combining for a swim of 3:10.92 in the 400-free relay.
