LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Rider University Athletics will host its first ever Rider Sports Broadcasting Experience this winter. The Experience will run on consecutive days from December 29th through December 31st and conclude on January 2nd.
Designed for high school students (aged 14-18) in the Lawrenceville area, the Rider Sports Broadcasting Experience will teach attendees the fundamentals of producing and filming live sports broadcasts. The first three days will take place in a classroom setting, where attendees will learn about announcing, sideline reporting, ongoing trends in the industry, how to cover specific moments in a game/match, working in a live control room, and the steps involved with producing a broadcast. On January 2nd – the final day of the Experience – attendees will have the opportunity to work on that afternoon's Rider vs. Purdue wrestling broadcast for ESPN+.
The Rider Sports Broadcasting Experience will be hosted by
Tony Corbi, Rider Athletics' Assistant A.D. for Video and Live Events Production. On top of his work at Rider, Corbi has an extensive background as a freelance production assistant, and has worked on broadcasts which have aired on ESPN2 and ESPNU.
"I am very excited to host this event for the first time," says
Tony Corbi, Assistant A.D. for Video and Live Events Production. "This program is designed to give high school students hands-on experience working on a professional broadcast team, which includes not just filming the broadcast itself, but also having a hand in its development, editing clips to air, creating the graphics, and more. All the while, students will learn the ins and outs of the sports broadcasting industry and how to start their careers."
Attendees will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of BroncVision – Rider Athletics' live events production team – and lunch will be provided each day. The first three days of the Experience will run from 9:00AM to 12:30PM, while the final day will run from 1:30PM to approximately 6:30PM and coincide with that afternoon's broadcast.
The cost of admission is $550 (plus fees). Registration is open now at the link below.
