Women’s Soccer Erases Two-Goal Deficit in Road Draw at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Trailing 2-0 with under 25 minutes to play, the Rider women's soccer team stormed back to earn a 2-2 draw against Big East foe Seton Hall in non-conference action Sunday evening.

Seton Hall applied early pressure, hitting the post twice in the opening three minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Moore kept Rider in it with three first-half saves, sending the match to halftime scoreless despite the Pirates holding an 8-1 edge in shots.

Just 90 seconds into the second half, the Pirates broke through as Gianna Angelillo buried the opening goal.

Angelillo struck again in the 64th minute to double the lead.

Rider wasted little time responding. Three minutes later, Tess Ferrie's shot from the right wing was stopped, but the rebound fell to Taylor Mays, who slotted home the Broncs' first goal of the 2025 season.

Moore came up big again minutes later with another save to deny Seton Hall a third.

In the 88th minute, a Seton Hall handball in the box set up Courtney Carter, who converted the penalty kick to level the match at 2-2.

The Broncs nearly stole the win in the final seconds when Noa Menzing set up Ferrie for a shot toward the top right corner, but the Pirates' keeper made a leaping save to keep the draw.

Quotes and Notes
"We spoke after the last game about playing for 90 minutes and that a lot can happen in a short period of time. It's not possible to dominate every second of the 90. You have to stay focused and stay in the game. Then when you get chances you need to take them, and that's what I am proud of.

The team responded within 5 minutes of going down 0-2 and in the last 3 minutes created multiple good chances to tie the game and force the Seton Hall keeper into a top class save at the very end." – Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome
