EDISON, NJ – Joe Tiroly and Brian Young were named among the final MAAC Weekly Awards on Tuesday afternoon.
After a historic weekend at the plate, sophomore Joe Tiroly has been named MAAC Player of the Week for the third time this season. Tiroly delivered a standout performance in Rider's series at Canisius, headlined by a record-setting moment in the opener. His two-run homer in game one broke the program's single-season RBI record, pushing his total to 66—the most ever by a Bronc in a single campaign.
Tiroly finished the series 7-for-12, racking up six RBIs and closing the weekend with a four-hit showing in the finale.
On the mound, senior Brian Young earned his second MAAC Pitcher of the Week accolade after a dominant performance in the series opener. Young threw his second complete-game shutout of the year, scattering just three hits over nine scoreless innings while striking out six. His performance also marked a career milestone, as he reached 200 strikeouts in a Rider uniform.
The Broncs are back in action on May 15, opening a pivotal three-game series against MAAC-leading Fairfield at Sonny Pittaro Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
