EDISON, NJ – Brian Young and
Charley Magoulick were recognized with MAAC weekly honors for their outstanding performances, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Brian Young was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season after a dominant outing in Rider's series opener at Marist. The senior tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out eight batters. His stellar performance not only secured a 7-0 win for the Broncs but also improved his record to a perfect 7-0 on the year.
Charley Magoulick earned his first career MAAC Rookie of the Week award after a breakout stretch at the plate. The freshman kicked off the week by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs in Rider's midweek matchup against UPenn. He carried that momentum into the weekend series at Marist, notching at least one hit in every game. In the series finale, Magoulick delivered a clutch three-hit performance, including a go-ahead RBI single in the 12th inning that lifted Rider to a 9-5 victory and a series sweep. He finished the week hitting .500 (8-for-16) with seven RBIs.
The Broncs return to action on Apr. 30 when they travel to State College to take on Penn State.
First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
