JERSEY CITY, NJ –
Kendall Reda-Fehsal (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) went 7-for-9 with four extra base hits and 12 RBI's as the Rider University softball team swept Saint Peter's, 15-6 and 6-0, in a MAAC doubleheader on Friday. With the wins, the Broncs improve to 16-27 (10-8 MAAC), while the Peacocks fall to 9-26 (1-14 MAAC).
The Broncs immediately struck for four runs in the top of the first of Game 1 and never trailed the entire day.
Abby Cruz (Corona, CA/Santiago) and
Aspen Wheeler (Lampasas, TX/Lampasas) contributed RBI singles in the first, while Reda-Fehsal also contributed a two-run single to put the Broncs on top, 4-0. After the Peacocks got a run back in the bottom of the first, Reda-Fehsal hit a two-run home run in the top of the third to give Rider a 6-1 lead. The Peacocks got a bases-clearing double from Dakota Pitts to close to within 6-4 after three. But the Broncs went on to score nine unanswered runs, including two in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh. Included in the onslaught was Reda-Fehsal's second home run of the day, a two-run shot in the sixth. Saint Peter's got two runs back in the bottom of the seventh on a Pitts single. But it wasn't nearly enough as the Broncs closed out the 15-6 victory.
Reda-Fehsal stayed hot in Game 2, driving in five runs. She hit a bases-clearing triple in the first inning, before adding a two-run double in the third.
Kristyn Gardner (Perryville, MD/Perryville) added a sacrifice fly, scoring
Keegan St. Cyr (Hopkinton, NH/Hopkinton) in the fourth, to push the Broncs' advantage to 6-0 to account for the final score. In the circle,
Kathryn Schmierer (Racine, WI/Racine Lutheran) spun a complete-game, five-hit shutout, striking out five.

Anna-Marie Groskritz (Granby, CT/Granby) picked up her team-leading eighth win of the year in Game 1, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and five walks over 7.0 innings. She struck out four.
- Schmierer earned her fourth win with a complete-game shutout in Game 2. She scattered five hits and three walks, striking out five over 7.0 innings.
